I actually have Digimon Mini and the Original V-pet. I knew, as you complained about the pronges a few times. So do you think the compromise is made by Bandai? Absolutely, it was changed in order to make it compatible with the Pendulum X and the Savers merchandise, at the cost of making them incompatible with the original models. The backwards compatibility was a hallmark of the line, and one of the things that made the v-pets great. According to BladeSaber over at WtW, the Original v-pets and the minis use different information protocols to battle, so even if the prongs were the same, they would produce errors. They should have kept things compatible, it would have been better overall. They have reduced the original toys to wall decorations by making them useless in the new generation.

The more weird thing is that Mini and Xros Wars Mini are not compatible even they look nearly the same...then you should thank Bandai Asia for keeping the 2-pronge connector til Digimon Neo and making D-Spirit which tries to be compatible with all 2-pronge device...or should we make a adapter?

I would love an adapter to make them all compatible, the main obstacle to that is apparently not the connections themselves, but the data passing protocols the different link systems use. An adapter would essentially have to translate one type of battle info into the other, both ways. By then it would likely be too late for either to battle. But if the timing issue could be resolved, it is theoretically possible. I'm trying to learn a bit more about the microprocessors the v-pets use now.

I'm trying to learn a bit more about the microprocessors the v-pets use now. Lol...that probably will be too hard for me. And I'd like to look a bit forward, to learn app writing so that I may help improving DU later. Though I'm not even starting lol

I'm not nearly good enough yet, but all that I know of computers and code is thanks to my love for Digimon. I would love to contribute to DU one day, but I feel my goals may be bigger than the scope of DU. I want to see Digimon V-pets that can move from the portable device into an mmorpg type Digital World, with items, digimentals, and other things. I would also like to build the hardware of the portable, hence my learning of microprocessors.

If u do something that big to greatly influence digimon, I'll support ya. I feel that digimon has(as always) had a very great potential unfortunately we dont get to see them come to pass however i still look forward to it i do wish that different gen digivices could connect each other

To me I think it's easier to put all good things in DU as DU is already good enough now XD And I think it's better to make vpet into a program/app as they can be more easily updated, corrected and improved...though the compatibility problem still exists.

DU is amazing, this is true. And I want it to continue and grow. But I like the idea of having a dedicated microcomputer for my Digimon. And with a usb connection for internet access, even a hardware v-pet could receive updates. And then also it could be made with both bandai connections, it would require two different battle sequences programmed in, one geared toward each connection, but it would be doable. I'm thinking something which could be worn as a watch.

And the day of universal compatibility may finally come.
