i was saying this 2 years ago and ill keep saying it... this needs to be SERVER BASED so no forceclose no nothing, the only thing i can agree with its that u could change the schedule of ur digi like once a week, for instance now im working on a nightshift and my digi WILL DIE NO MATTER WHAT in the hours im sleeping and he isnt. I was forced to forceclose and change manually my phone time and i dont like it, forceclose is a devious and cheaty way to play this. So you should be happy that Bulzipke actually decided to make the app server-based eventually. I'm also happy to see that Titanium Backup which can be used to prevent evo fail and death will not work anymore at that time. But just wonder what will happen to time zone change tricks. Has bulzipke confirmed it?

He has mentioned that to me so many times. I've reflected my objection on this, yet he still though making the game server-based will have more merits than keeping it client-based.

Well he's the boss. I don't mind neither server-based nor offline. As long as it's enjoyable. Let bulzipke work his creative juices.

WOW...i was unaware of that, thats awesome and indeed im extremely happy, just hope he consider all the posibilities of it to dont mess up some people because their schedule... i think what i said earlier, the option to change digi schedule like once a week will cover most cases but im sure there is stuff im not considering it.

I wonder how the save button would work in the future.

I'm still learning c++ in case DU goes in a direction I don't like. I like having *my* digimon on *my* phone, and I love the idea of sending him into the server for battle. I understand why Bulzipke wants to keep the monsters on the server, I just don't like it, and I refuse to hack purely out of principle. It would be cool if he would release the source for version 1.56 since he doesn't support it anymore, to allow folks to run private servers, but the client would need modification to choose the server it connects to.

To them the end justifies the means and these people would rather quit than try to play fairly like the others. All the successful games on the market that are relatively hack free (meaning users cannot change data and gain items/levels at will) are server based. Dota, PoE etc. these games allow people with actual time investment into the game to flourish, rather than some script kiddies with a cheating program can do in 5 min.

The irony being that Bulzipke is trying to stop hacking, when hacker tamers causing problems in the digital world has been a staple in the franchise since Digital Monster Ver. S, and even in the cartoon! *cough*Digimon Kaiser*cough* Instead of wasting time on hack-proofing the app, which ultimately seems totally futile to me, he should implement methods of evening the playing field for legit tamers, for instance, dropping the training cap to something reasonable, working on the bit market, implementing power objects, et cetera. My point is there are a multitude of ways to balance the problem out without making it totally server based, and if it becomes server based after all, there are many more issues he's going to have to work out to make a virtual pet like this work.

"please no server-based its good to stop cheaters but i want to continue to be able to pry the game with gamekiller/use titanium backup/macro LALALA etc."
lol please don't try to justify hacking (wow really?) because there is some kind of "lore" or whatever related to it. then try to counter it by saying server-based would have its own problems. like rampant cheating is not a problem.
cheating is cheating and there ARE ways to make games as hack-proof as possible.
may not be 100% but if players cannot just simply create whatever digimon/training through gamekiller/other hacking methods and backup them all as they fancy, its good enough.
Making it server-based correctly would immediately put an end to gamekiller users for starters, the only people that would be arguing against this are the hackers themselves.
there may be its own set of issues with it but ultimately they would be eventually fixed with time.

I allways read or hear about that "client based" or "server based" from many games, but frankly i didnt even ask what those terms means... By any case, "server based" would mean that you'll need internet connection 24/7 to take care of you digimon? D:

Man, that's a real downer for all of us who need a wifi connection and didn't have those "free internet whenever you want" mobile plans :c
But meh, it's Bulzipke app so it's up to him and i know that make it "server-based" would be a great experience for a lot of people... But for me, if i'm not gonna be able to take good care of my digi 'cause of my own internet limits, then probably i'm not gonna play it.

Instead of wasting time on hack-proofing the app, which ultimately seems totally futile Well in fact he has taken a really great leap on making the app hack-proofing since v1.25. To make it totally hack-proofing actually he only have to hide some more important variables, disconnect current version from server, and make the app data of current version corrupted in coming update. But of course everyone will be crazy about their beloved and well-trained Digimon be erased ONCE again...and encrypting more things means the app runs slower, which Bulzipke doesn't really want to see.

Time zone would be a bummer for bulzipke to figure out. Btw I've been using mobile data to do some battling on the server, and realized that the app uses less than 2mb for about 30 battles that I did, plus some time spent in between just chatting on the server. Pretty efficient.
