Digimon world map control virtual board game.docx (26.97 KB)Digimon – Digital World Map Control Virtual Board Game
Game Terms to know
A full game: 6 weeks, 6 turns
A turn- one full week. Ap/mp/losses reset every Monday at midnight(est). Also Sunday night VP and location data will be displayed for the week. On the Thursday of each turn I will stop taking arena applicants for a weekly competition. If your digimon digivolves in the middle of the week, he will not see an AP, MP or Losses per turn increase. But life will increase if evolved to the super ultimate level.
Location- all of the named locations on the board act as areas to battle over. These can be broken down into 3 different types- (N) normal, (s) special, and (c) capital. Most locations are worth VP in that order of 1, 2, and 3 for capitals. The differences between them are that normal locations offer nothing special and no bonuses as well as no resources, just VP. Special locations often grant bonuses or utility options to those that are holding them or sometimes attacking them. Capitals are very useful location that have items, resources, and weekly quest options to aid the team holding them. Some locations, especially the ones on infinity MT, are powerful and entirely unique.
Region-There are 5 regions that the map is broken up into, North, east, south, west, and infinity mountain. The regions vary in point worth and utility, but each has a capital. The capital will offer a variety of benefits for the lucky alliance holding it. A few of these that will happen regularly: access to a general item shop other than the one in Green Gym.
Alliance-An alliance is a collection of trainers banded together to earn a collective VP total higher than that of competing alliances. Alliances cannot be over 15 people.
Stage- evolution stage of your digimon (Baby, in-training, rookie, Champion, ultimate, Mega, S. ultimate)
-I know there are other terms, but these are the ones used in the rules here.
Age- Days your digimon has been alive for.
Action Points (AP) – Resource points that increase with stage, they are used to take actions other than moving. See Chart on actions and cost.
Movement Points (MP) – Resource Points used to move around the map
Victory points(VP) (total) – victory points earned in the game collectively
Victory Points (spendable) – a Fraction of your Victory points left that have not been spent. Reads as Spendable/Total on your character info card. These are used to buy items and spend like currency on the board. Think of them as digidollars.
Life- Battles are normally 2 out of 3. This is because each digimon will have a standard of 2 life unless modified by locations, items, quests, and attaining S. Ultimate level (+1 life in battle). This means a digimon with 3 life would require 3 victories to defeat instead of 2, but 2 could still defeat you if you only had 2 life.
Battle- A battle is a series of password locked server battles until one digimon has lost all of its life.
Losses per turn until death- just like what it sounds like. If you lose a number of battles per turn equal to your stages numerical value for this stat, you are removed from the board and considered dead. Dead digimon respawn in green gym.
Attacking- moving into an occupied enemy location with intent to conquer it. To attack, you will select a target digimon on that location (locations can hold more than 1 allied digimon), post in the server as shown in the “post etiquette” section. Attacks are responded to in 5 different ways: fleeing, Taking an attack, defending against an attack, intercepting an attack on an ally, intercepting a non hostile attacking digimon moving through your location to get to the location it wants to attack. This costs 1 AP, and the movement to get into the location. (a map with location dividers will be up to show locations and how they connect), you may attack as much as you like in a turn until you are out of AP
Taking an attack- this happens normally if an attack is not responded to in the forum within 24 hours. What this means is that you are logged out of the digital world and your digimon doesn't have your aid as a tamer. Also this is the only option you have if you have no action points to defend, or movement points to flee. It is either a forfeited battle if not responded, or you battle as though you only have one life. This will give older stages more actions on the board, meaning, to budget them to defend is that much more important. Also making older digimon your teams power players.
Defending against an attack- when an enemy digimon targets you and your location, you may spend 1 AP to battle against it with your full life. Usually locations offer unique benefits to certain defenders, its important to know the rules of the battlefield you are on, refer to the location rules section.
Fleeing- when attacked you may choose to flee instead of defend or take it. This takes 1 MP and you must have an allied or neutral location adjacent location for it to not end in your death. This means centralizing your alliances held locations is safer than taking remote ones.
Intercepting an attack on an ally- An allied digimon to an attacked target in either the same location or an adjacent one may choose to defend his ally. To do this he must spend 1 AP to replace the target. If you are not in the target location, spend 1 mp to move there as an added cost to the action.
Attacking an intruder – The 5th way of responding to an attack can come from a bystander wanting an easy kill from a non-hostile traveler. Spend 1 AP to attack someone moving through you location. The target doesn’t have to be attacking to do this.
Conquered Location- a location that has been claimed by an alliance. To conquer a location, you must remove all currently reigning enemy digimon by defeating them, the only way to remove digimon is to win a number of battles against them equal to their, ‘losses per turn before death’ killing them, and removing them from the board. Hopefully the consequences for death will make a logical retreat a better option than standing your ground against poor odds. Conquering a location after removing all enemies is: 1 for a normal location, 2 for a special location, and a shared group spent 3 for a capital. After a location has been cleared in one turn, only the attacking alliance can move into the space, giving them the ability to conquer it while it is empty. If a location is emptied and not conquered, it is considered neutral.
Death- Depending on your digimons stage, if you lose a certain number of battles equal to your digimon’s losses per turn before death, they are removed from the board and considered dead until they respawn at the beginning of next turn. Other ways to Die are as follows: resetting your digimon without having a location that tells you it is alright(this is honesty to help you get a digimon you want without having to battle in the game and affect your win rate.) if your digimon literally dies in the app, it dies in the game, and if the location you were on is conquered by removing all of your turnly losses or otherwise(quest, item, location effect)
Shops: Currently the only shops are in capitals and in green gym, they all have access to the common item list. The existing special item list will be used on special locations, in quests and will be found or handed out in events or starter packages. It costs 1 AP to buy an item in a shop. Most Items can be held until used or are permanent equipment or upgrades, (On an item to item basis rules).
Reading items( item – effect – (Victory Point Cost))
AP Floppy – grants you +1 ap, +2 ap, +3 ap on the turn used (10,15,20 VP)
MP Floppy – Grants you +1 MP, +2 MP, +3MP on the turn used (10,15,20 VP)

Recovery Disk – 1,2,3. Remove number of current turn losses from your digimon this turn equal to the recovery disk level bought. (20,30,40 VP)
Soft Save- instead of dying from losses per turn, return to your capital or green gym with 1 loss left for this turn. Soft save is then considered used and lost. (30 VP)
Warp Port- move to an allied location or green gym. Warp port is then considered used and lost. (30 VP)
Back up drive- you may attack and defend with digimemories until the end of this turn. The current digimon’s stats are still used. (50 VP)
Assault Usb - +2 life on attacks until end of turn used (15 vp)

Etiquette for communicating on the forumI cannot stress this enough. With an increasing number of players there is a tight need to communicate required info in an organized way. So please look for how to post each action, how to communicate with me(as ill be managing most of it until admins, alliance leaders, referees, wild digimon and out of game arena players get involved, very few of which will do more than manage a group for a duration of time and get the overall info back to me. Like group victory points and what not. I'll double check then post the week’s summary for everyone). also what I’d like present on each of your character info cards (a block of text that has your current game stats that you will modify, copy and paste with each action so the other players always know current stats on the board.)

Item use: if it is used in an action put it under the main information line in a post and note that it was used and to do what briefly (for the opponents)
Activating Board options: if you are on a location that may be activated for an effect or has an inherent effect on battle put that in your post.
Responding in real time:Due to the restrictions of forum communication I have decided to use an amorphous more flexible system for time:
Immediately after posting an action, PM the player you are interacting with in defending, attacking, intercepting and so on, be polite even if you are trying to kill each other. =) (if you’re interacting with the environment of the game, you will pm me until I get help running this (admins, fb page guys) .set up a time before the 24 hours is over and report back what happened. Use the locations number on the server as the password. The first one to respond to an action is the only one to respond for that day for sake of not dog piling. Other players must just do something else.
Character Info card:Player name , Server Name, Current Digimon, Alliance name, Current location
Egg, Stage, Age, attribute(da,va,vi), AP (Have left/total), Mp (Have left/total), VP (spendable/total)
Current Life Rating, losses per turn before death (losses/total), number of deaths
Digimemories
Items currently owned – items currently active
^^ that is very important to know how to read. Just change the values each time you lose life, get losses, spend ap, mp and vp, get deaths, and earn vp, your digimon ages, he evolves. Keep us all updated! We are a digital world community after all.
ClansClans! I know some of the clan members will want to be in on this. So here is my rules for you guys, you get one alliance per game, anyone beyond that 15 must join another non clan dedicated team. Hope you guys enjoy pitting your clans against each other, I’m eager to see who is actually going to win.
QuestsQuests: Every turn each capital will receive 3 quests of different levels of difficulty, the different levels offer 1, 5 and 10 victory points to the alliance for completion. Quests can be a variety of things from killing specific targets to capturing locations. You are in fact fighting for the digital world aren’t you?
Wild encounters:Wild encounters: When I post a wild encounter circumstance this is a dangerous event for all digimon tamers in that location. I will post the password to the forum for the room battling for that location and when: “Wild encounter: Greymon happens, a pool of people including the forum viewers, if I make a FB page for it, the viewers of that and individuals whom I will have asked if they want to do wild encounters with their species, type, egg -specific digimemories, will attempt to kill you all. The battles do not require AP to defend or attack, but they do count for deaths and 1 VP per victory, have the loser report the results. If you are the victor, please have a witness in the server pm me or post on the page with “wild encounter” somewhere in it.
Getting Vp Victory PointsWinning a battle = 1 VP for the winner
Conquering a location = 2 VP for all participants
Holding a location at the end of a turn = points by location to all alliance members (see locations details)
Conquering a Region= 10 VP for all allies in that region
Holding a region = points by region to all alliance members (see location details)
Data chips Found on the Board = attribute (Data, Vaccine, Virus) based. Can be found on locations hidden secretly. (treasure)
Unique Items, and quests also offer a variable number of VP by each individual case.
Effects: At the beginning of each turn (week), I will give 3 events that are happening in the digital world that are affecting the game. The players should be aware of these to strategize. I recommend talking with your alliance to plan attacks and defense fronts using these types of occurrences.
Special Items – these will be posted as they are designed and used… have to practice balance.

Locations- This is basically the defining feature of the map – its locations change the way certain battles will take place. The first set of locations I have designed are fairly simple for sake of a smooth first run, I will incorporate more sophisticated rules with the second entry of the game probably involving the actual story of digimon in some way or another, but that’s for the next 6 weeks. The number before the name is the password for fighting on that battlefield.
1000
The arena- as part of the neutral zone of green gym there is an arena where all real competitors go to bring glory to their alliance. The prizes are rare items and lots of vp, but you will have to compete with players not in your digital world game and will also have to traverse the map to get to green gym(a warp port does this too). There will be a max of 20 people per week and I will take applicants Monday through Thursday. Thursday night it closes. I will post the bracket. 3 rounds. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. 20 to 10 to 5 to duke it out Sunday. Prizes will go to the players in game and posting glory to those not involved in the map control game. Victories on Friday are worth 1, on Saturday 2, Sunday 3. The victor gets 50 vp for himself and 10 for everyone in his alliance. The bigger the alliances, the bigger the victory in the arena, just like conquering. Bigger alliances get more points per holding locations as all alliance members receive them. If your opponent fails to show by the deadline, fails to respond, or make your decided appt by 15 minutes. They forfeit the match.

Winning: the alliance at the end with the most VP will be determined the winning alliance. Depending on size of the alliance, they will have a tournament to compete for the top 3 and there will be 3 different prizes. If the alliances are small that may work differently. I don’t want to skimp on prize stuff, but 15 ppl is a lot lol. So! Play for the game now, prizes will be addressed closer to the 4th and 5th week.
The map cut up into locations showing boarders will be up tonight. Sorry for the delay guys, lost the note book cleaning the house after the day at the park.. oops.
I will be messaging people looking for some people that have specific digimon either currently or in memory for digimon flavor events. Classics from the anime, you know the ones.
Other than that. Send me your new updated character info cards or post it to the game forum. Im going to start a second thread that is actually the playing of this, where all posts will be kept cleaned up and deleted regularly. This thread will stay active for questions to the rules And additional updates to them, things like items and location details.
Hope you all can make sense of this. Message me with questions and I will message you with the starting gear if you qualify. The deadline was today. So we will place our digimon on the map and get rules sorted this week. Preliminary players will start on the board and may spend ap, mp and earn vp, buy items, battle rivals as soon as their info card is on the forum for the actual game. Thanks guys. Pick a location where you wanna start! Send it with your info.
