TTTTHAT'S RIGHT! This LP is BACK! after nearly half an year of an hiatus, this LP is officially back!
The other day i was watching Nadesico, and i eventually gave up. "Nadesico just isn't worth watchin past the third episode (arguably the fourth)", i thought to myself as i struggled to watch it. And then i thought: "man, this was much better in SRW J". And then i remembered. Hey, i should play J again. And i am currently clearing it for the third time right now, actually. And then i remembered! I used to have an LP here! Sadly, the thread is already dead. So i tried to make a new thread. I accidentally pressed F5 and lost all of it. Angry, i postponed it, and kind of forgot about it. But today i finally remembered! Today is the day that this LP continues!
Well, not exactly today. Because you see, before we restart we need to remake the choices we made right at the beginning of the original LP. The person who originally made those choices hasn't come on these forums for a few months, so i think somebody should make those same choices again (besides, he chose most of the default stuff anyway). It's not going to be much of a chore to play through the chapters again, all we did was play through the first chapter anyway.
You guys have a few choices to make.(You could always choose to just continue as it was, but where's the fun in that?)
First off, are we a boy...
Or a girl?
If we choose Calvina, i will skip the first chapter, since we have already seen it, but since the first two chapters differ depending on the character, if we end up with Touya, i will play the entire first chapter on here. Regardless of the character we choose, i will not post the tutorials again. If you want to see the tutorials again, check out the original thread, linked above (just... just don't post anything there, ok? I already went through the trouble to create a new one, so please don't revive an old thread). If you have a question not answered there, you can always ask it here, and i'll gladly answer it. Similarly, i won't rewrite character reviews that i have posted back on the old thread, but new ones are fair game.
Okay, onto the next choice:
-Originals (as in the characters introduced in this game)
Touya and Calvina. They're fine, i guess. Uncreative, but fine.
-Mobile Fighter G Gundam
It's unconventional for a gundam series in that instead of a war drama, it's a cheesy old timey kung-fu movie. With giant robots. It's dumb fun, and it doesn't take itself seriously. I'd say it's worth a watch if you like cheesy kung-fu movies and shounen anime like dragonball and naruto. It was my gateway into the gundam universe. Also, THERE'S A HORSE THAT PILOTS A GIANT ROBOT IN IT
GO WATCH IT RIGHT NOW
-Mobile Suit Gundam Seed
Gundam Seed is basically the original 0079 Gundam series, but retold with whiny teenagers and terrible plot. There are two cool things about it: The first opening song and DOG MOBILE SUITS
-Blue Comet SPT Layzner
Red Comet? Who's that? Probably a wimp, the Blue Comet is where it's at. It's a series where the space race during the cold war escalated greatly, and humans ended up reaching Mars. However, some alien dudes called the Gradosians were mad because we were in their turf, so they decided to exterminate us all. But one of them, who is half-human, because his dad was an astronaut who got lost in space and joined the gradosians, decided to save the humans, because he loved hearing stories about Earth as a kid. It's really awesome, and if you want to watch it, you should probably watch the three compilation OVAs, since the original TV series got cancelled before the end.
-Brain Powerd
I'll be honest; I don't actually know all that much about this show, and there's not much information about it available on the internet. Most people say it's mediocre. I like the mecha designs (though they're not really mecha). Also, there are tons of characters.
-Martian Successor Nadesico
Honestly, this series is not bad. Many people who have watched it enjoyed it. But something happened in episode 3. A character who was pretty much a main character up until that point died. And the other characters' reactions to it were enough to make me quit. You might enjoy the series though, don't let me ruin it for you. It might just be worth it for GEKIGANGER 3
-Space Knight Tekkaman Blade
This series isn't actually a giant robot anime by any means. But it is still awesome. If you can get past the somewhat dated animation, you'll have a great time with it. If you're from USA (which i assume most of you are) you might remember this as Teknoman (just like in the picture)
-Full Metal Panic!
A really entertaining series, actually. I quite like it, and i dig the mecha designs. It's quite interesting to see Sousuke, a conventional soldier having to deal with having to pilot a robot with an ability powered by will power. I'd pay real money to see Gai piloting that robot, actually. Can you imagine? It'd have the power of a nuke!
-Mazinkaiser
A GOD? A DEMON? THE KAISER OF STEEL
It's awesome. It's a sequel (kind of) to the original Mazinger Z TV series (which happened to be one of the first series with pilotable giant robots). But this game doesn't just have Mazinkaiser; it also has the Mazinkaiser movie, which honestly is kind of a mess storywise. The terrible subs don't help. Luckily for us, this game fixes most of the plot hiccups the movie has. Fun fact: Mazinkaiser was originally developed for Super Robot Wars 4, but the creator liked the design so much that it sticked throughout the entirety of the Super Robot Wars Alpha trilogy, and the creator decided to make an OVA about it.
-Combattler V
It's a pretty damn awesome series. One of the Super Robot classics. Sadly, there's not much from the combattler story in this game, only one scene which vaguely resembles one from the series. It's only here because Voltes is. Fun fact: in the ending of Combattler V, the heroes are told they need to sacrifice themselves to save the earth. Nowadays, most protagonists would panic and whine for about 7 episodes. The Combattler pilots were happy. They felt proud to be able to give their lives up to save earth. a few thousand (or hundred) years later, another electromagnetic robot was created. Voltes V.
-Voltes V
I haven't actually watched Voltes, so i don't know much about it other than that it was really popular in the phillipines in 1978 for some reason. If your parents are from the Phillipines and they were kids in 1978 they probably know this show. Also, unlike the "V" in "Combattler V", the "V" in "Voltes V" is pronounced "Five".
-Beast God Dancougar
Pretty much the first deconstruction of the Super Robot genre. It's pretty good. Sadly, it doesn't have much of a role in this game. There's one villain from the TV series who has sided with the Gradosians, so it's pretty much riding of Layzner's plot. Which is kind of a shame, really.
-Hades Project Zeorymer
Zeorymer is OP. Zeorymer has an awesome theme song. Zeorymer's mech designs are really unique and interesting. Its pilot has an evil side which has a magnificent laugh. I really want to like this series. But it's just not great. The battles are slow and clunky, and while I think it would have benefited greatly from more episodes, but alas, it didn't have more episodes. To its credit, most people say the manga is much better. Also, i wouldn't recommend it to younger viewers.
So that's it, people. Make your choices. If by tomorrow around this time nobody has chosen anything, i'll just go with last time's choices. That would be no fun though.
EDIT: Well, apparently you guys are no fun. I'll give it some more time, just to make sure.

Okay, onto the next choice:
That's right; Our giant robot!
The Bellzelute is a great sniper, and it's also great at dodging! Its only problem is that it can't really take many hits, but it's not likely to be getting hit either way. Besides, once it gets its upgrade it becomes tankier, and that issue becomes much less apparent, even in the off chance that it gets hit.
The Coustwell is... kinda weird. It's not as dodgy as the Bellzelute, and also isn't as tanky as the Granteed. The main thing it's got is its attacks, which are admittedly pretty good, but the thing is that they don't have much range, and you can't damage what you can't reach. It needs a lot of upgrades to be actually useful.
The Granteed is absolutely amazing. Tanky as all hell, has some pretty damaging attacks and some surprisingly far-reaching attacks. It's easily my favorite of the three.
After that, we need to choose a name for our character and for our robot. We also need to name its attacks, but you can change the attack names at any point inbetween chapters, so i'll let you guys have a look at the attacks before making you guys name them.
But wait! There's more!

We gotta choose our favorites! Basically, it's three series that we'll choose. The chosen series' units will have extra upgrade slots, and will gain extra exp and money when they defeat enemies. Last time around i only told you guys the series names, and i didn't actually tell anything about the series themselves, leaving you guys to choose basing yourselves on the names. Well this time around, you guys will make an informed choice.
