My ideal version of this would be each week you are given your opponent and you play a number of matches and report it to the person keeping points or rankings depending how we decide to do it. If there are enough people, id like to break it up into age based tiers. So participants are likely to be at fair power levels. Then we could use the password feature to avoid hackers.

the password could be the stage of the digimon and if there are hackers the person who faced them can report it

The stage is a bad deciding factor due to the evofail. Champions can be unreasonably powerful and that is game breaking deception. I agree for ewch tier there should be a password. But age is the best indicator of strength. Second you have hard core guys and casual guys. Casuals just raise digimon, hardcore tamers will put in training. The idea is balance so we all have a fair chance and thus fun.

It's always hard to find a balance in this type of things. Age sounds pretty good though.

when you play enough online games with tier systems and design games, balance becomes a focal point. And a skill ive gotten pretty good at. The first 3 weeks would be setting up a concrete ladder to see what kind of players we all are and what ranges of certian constraint factors we need to make a fair tier seperation.

Should just be a roster and whoever wants to fight can fight. Or break it up by digivolution level to encourage diversity

League tournament would be difficult and time consuming and can drag on for mths that you might actually forget the pts n who is who to battle. Group stage - knock out format would be recommended. Also timezone could pose a problem but wont be too much of an issue.
Can have a tournament based in type, etc VI digimon tournament or by level etc champion digimon only...
